A Stroll Through the Pearl of the West

Un paseo por La Perla del Occidente
Guadalajara is the most populated city in Jalisco and is part of the Bajío region. In fact, it is the second most populated region in the country, after Mexico City. The most important local industries are shoe and textile production, although they have a wide variety of food processing. "La Perla Tapatía" is what we colloquially call it, and this time Álvaro Martínez, a native of this beautiful city, shares with us the details of how he experienced a special day accompanied by photos, a walk, and a good coffee.

Álvaro left home early for Galería Tiro al Blanco, a creative space where they allowed him to visit and take a couple of photos. The place was a bit far, and due to the traffic that sometimes floods the city, it was difficult for them to arrive early. But as soon as they arrived, thousands of ideas for photographs inspired by Someone Somewhere came to mind.

Álvaro strolled with a travelbag río, which had everything he needed for the day (camera, sunglasses, wallet, some healthy snacks, and an extra battery for his cell phone). After taking some incredible photos, he went to La Panga del Impostor, a delicious seafood place that he recommends trying and visiting (there are 2 branches; one in the Americana neighborhood and another near Punto Sao Paulo). He also recommends ordering the Lucky Charms ice cream for dessert.

The amazing thing about Guadalajara is that you can find green spaces everywhere, in addition to delicious food. From the famous tortas ahogadas and carne en su jugo, to less typical dishes like those you can find in Álvaro's recommendation. If you haven't visited this city yet, take the time to plan a trip, visit its main square, its churches, its leather crafts, its snacks, museums, and thus check La Perla Tapatía off your bucket list.
