Life in Motion with Su

Life in Motion with Su

In life, we have many companions who are with us through thick and thin, and one of them is our backpack. Can you imagine a world without them? It would be impossible. Not only do they protect our belongings, but they also accompany us on all our adventures... Finding the ideal one is not easy at all, but at Someone Somewhere, we know this, and that's why we dedicate ourselves to taking care of every detail to meet your expectations. On this occasion, we got to know Su a little better, who is part of the Marketing team and shared some of her journeys with her Backpack and Travel Bag, where having them was key to enjoying herself and having fun. Stay tuned to discover them!

Tell us a little about your hobbies. What do you do? What do you like?

I love being in contact with nature; I'm always looking to be among trees, go for walks, runs, and discover new places. I really enjoy going to Chapultepec Forest to ride my bike, read, and whenever I can, I try to have my adventures. I like camping near the city or going to a cabin.

What drives you to want to live these adventures?

My boyfriend and I adopted a dog named Ramón almost 4 years ago, and he completely changed our dynamic. He grew so much; when he was little, he had maximum energy, and that's when we started doing more of these activities. It was super cool to go, I don't know... to Hidalgo to camp near a lake and have Ramón be the happiest dog in the world; that motivates us a lot. A big part of my enjoyment for the activities I do with them is complemented by meditation and contemplation, which I also really love, and it all relates to nature.

Do you consider it important to have a backpack for these experiences?

It's super important. The first few times we did these activities, we were complete novices and brought a thousand tote bags, a thousand small backpacks, but once we arrived, it was super impractical. The long walks, realizing we were carrying too many things we didn't even need, not knowing where we had left certain things, or if you arrive at night and need to set up your tent... obviously carrying so many disorganized things is chaotic. What I look for now is 100% practicality—a backpack that helps me find things super easily, protects delicate items, and above all, is comfortable. Because if you have a long journey or unexpected plans come up, it needs to be a backpack that really works for you and lasts. I think there's no point in going on extreme adventures if your backpack can't handle it, or if you have to constantly worry about something happening to it. Having a very good backpack is a huge percentage of your experience.

How have the Travel Bag and Backpack worked for you in each of these experiences?

They are my two favorites from Someone Somewhere. I've tried all of them, and obviously they're very cool, but I feel that these two have the functionalities I use most often. I try to use the Backpack daily. When we used to go to the office, it was the one I carried because after work I would go to boxing classes, and I'd store my gloves, mat, etc. in it. That was the one I took everywhere. If I went out on the weekend, I would just switch out the items. It's a super versatile and comfortable backpack; it can serve you for cities and for short trips. With the Travel Bag I discovered a new world—longer trips, by plane, where you have to carry a lot more clothes. It's a great backpack, fits in the overhead bin, and I love being able to travel light and without the hassle of checking luggage. Plus, it has the convenience of putting things in front, carrying your thermos, putting your computer, and at the same time keeping it super safe. It's ideal for these types of trips and for camping because you can put everything from clothes to cooking utensils in it. Everything fits super well! I've put it to the test, and I still feel comfortable. I've used both, and in the end, I combine them; I know very clearly which one to use for each type of trip.

Tell us your best anecdote using the Travel Bag and the Backpack.

One of the most memorable before the pandemic was when I went with the marketing team to Oaxaca to shoot content at the workshop of Lucero and Victor, a couple of artisans. We had to travel very light; we went with some photographer friends and took the Travel Bag. So we were nervous about not forgetting anything, and during the trip, we never worried about our luggage. We had our Travel Bags with us on the plane, in the car to the communities, during the shootings, and we always had everything at hand. We had computers, camera equipment, and we were always comfortable. This was also part of testing the product because we were going to a shoot that was precisely going to tell the story of this backpack. By creating this campaign, we lived the experience and realized how cool it is to have a Travel Bag in your life.

The Backpack is the one I've taken to my favorite camping trips. One is in Santa Elena, an incredible ranch that I highly recommend, and I took it with the challenge of not bringing unnecessary things. Sometimes it happens that you take "things" just in case when camping, and in the end, you end up wearing the same clothes, just enjoying, eating, and walking. I only brought the basics, and the size of the backpack was very useful for carrying only what I needed. I had it inside my tent, and everything was at hand when I opened it. I feel like it was a great travel companion.

Could you tell us a bit more about how they protect gadgets?

Of course. I feel that with the Travel Bag on this trip to Oaxaca or others I've taken, I haven't worried about my computer. I used to have a huge laptop, and now I have a small one, and I'm still using the same backpack, which I think is incredible because I know I can change gadgets, and it doesn't matter because my backpack adapts. Another thing is that the part where you put your computer and charger is super well designed; it's a separate compartment from the rest of your belongings. It's protected because even if you put it on the ground, it has enough padding to protect your things. Both protect your gadgets well, especially the Travel Bag because it has several compartments if you have many chargers, headphones, and things like that.

What do you like most about Someone Somewhere backpacks?

I would add that what I found beautiful when I started working at Someone Somewhere is that craftsmanship, besides being seen as something beautiful, is also seen as something functional, with a lot of strength and resistance. For four years, I've seen that this is true, that craftsmanship has tradition, beauty, but it is also very resistant, and that is something that represents Someone Somewhere products very much.
